Modern Hungary was a part of Roman province Pannonia in an antiquity and one of the first has been won by the German tribes in II century. After that the country was under authority of gunny, avars and francs.
In the end of IX century Pannonia has been grasped by magyars. The first king of Hungarians became Ishtvan I (Sacred) in 1000, having received blessing of pope Silvestra II. Within almost 300 years the Hungarian kingdom was independent, however after the Mongolian invasion in 1241 the royal authority began to weak, and in the beginning of XIV century the country was started to correct by foreign dynasties.
In 1521 Turkey has begun successful war against the Hungarian king then the country has actually broken up on some concerning independent regions and there were in such condition almost 150 years. In the beginning of XVIII century the authority in the country has passed to Austrian royal house of the Gabsburgs’, and still through 150 years Austria and Hungary became independent kingdoms under control of one emperor, and in 1867 there was Austria-Hungary. On November, 11th, 1918 the empire has been officially liquidated, and in five days Hungary has been proclaimed by republic. In 20th years a monarchy was restored with an establishment of profascist mode Horty, however in 1945 Hungary again became the republic.
One of important though also gloomy pages of the Hungarian history, the revolt of 1956 suppressed by the Soviet armies is. In 1989 the Hungarian National Republic has been renamed into the Hungarian Republic, communists are actually discharged of authority, and in March-April, 1990 have passed the first free multi-party elections for last 45 years.
